Our History

APSI was incorporated in 1996 under the laws of the state of Missouri. APSI is licensed as a ground ambulance service by the Missouri Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and operates at the advanced life support level.

APSI was originally created in 1994 by two paramedics as a standby EMS service called Missouri Medical Standby, for events such as rodeos and races. In 1996, APSI was contracted to provide EMS for the Lake Lotawana district outside of Kansas City. Shortly thereafter, APSI applied for for an ambulance license in Pettis County which was also being served by Lifeguard EMS, a private service based in Blue Springs, Mo. After a long appeal process, APSI was granted an ambulance license for the Sedalia / Pettis County area. APSI thrived and has been able to provide an outstanding level of care and coverage to the community. APSI is now owned and operated by Doug Briscoe, one of the original founders of APSI.
